Now Its Cold Again ! Glad I Trooped Thu Those Warm Days !

Modern and vintage hand fired coal stove are similar to a wood stove and in some cases can burn either. They need to be regulated and fed by hand usually every 12 to 24 hours depending on your usage. They require no power to operate making them ideal for rural settings with long power outages.

I burned more coal this weekend than any other all season. 0 degrees and brisk wind gives the EFM a chance to run a little more, but it does the job without any adjustments at all.

Did you ever notice most of the boiler guys have a beer fridge and chair in the boiler room? With no knobs to turn, MPD to adjust, grates to shake, or clinkers to fish, we have more time to spend enjoying IPA's. :)

It certainly is nice not having to bring wood in every couple of hours to feed the old hand fed or stack backs of stove and nut coal in the back room for the overnights.

A gentle poke at the hydronic crowd is always good for amusement. Where is spring, I am bored.

When I get bored I go into the hand fed forum and refer to someone's stove as a space heater. :bag:

Startin Monday into Wednesday, they're callin for a foot or more of snow with winds & the whole enchilada!! In like a lion indeed. Have to keep an eye on this one!! That's according to "WeatherBug.com" which has it's weather station right down at our Elementary school.

WOW FF, and so both pupils need to stay home. 12 to 18" here Tuesday with winds of up to 40mph. I was ready to take the plows off and call it a day. I am a sensitive Hudson Valley boy, I can't take this. I am waking up my AK180 with buck for the first time this winter. My space heater is getting a work out. If I wanted this chit I would have moved to Maine.
