Hey gang, currently my 50-93 is parked in front of my fireplace at the end of my basement and is piped into my 12x12 clay lined flue. I leave the basement door open. I have (3) 6" supply ceiling registers and a 10" supply register on the floor pointing towards the stove. All supply vents upstairs are close. I wired in a thermostat in the basement ceiling and set it for AC at 78 degrees. This closes a relay I put in the furnace. This way when the upstairs stat calls for heat it brings on my fan and pressurizes my basement forcing the cold air down and the warm air up. If the basement gets to cool the relay de energizes and the stat upstairs then sends power to light the burner in the furnace. Any who this is my current setup. On the other side of my basement (RIGHT NEXT TO MY STAIR CASE) is my oil fired water heater. Once it dies (it's 19 yrs old) I'm thinking of moving the stove to that 8x8 clay lined chimney and restoring the fireplace to fireplace duty. Do you think the heat will move better the way I have it, or by having it right by the stair case? Looking forward to the opinions  :)

How will you heat water after oil heater dies...
With your system I don't think placement matters that much...
The heat will have a more direct path...
less wasted into walls in basement...
you gain a fireplace...
We like pics...
Nice setup with ac control to manage fan and heat...

Once the water heater croaks ill be putting in a propane one that can be direct vented. I have a 500 gallon tank I put in and the rest of my appliances are LP. I'm also thinking the stove might perform better hooked to a 8x8 instead of a 12x12 flue.

Fred the problem is I can never leave well enough alone. HA! I want to close my porch in also and put either a 30-95 or a mark 1 in. That way I have two stoves and a fireplace to screw with lol

Here's a couple pics of my setup. It was in the upper single digits yesterday am with a strong wind and the house held 70. Years prior the furnace was rolling too at those temps.
