Good Afternoon,
Just picked up a Jr. Chubby yesterday and see that the flue is 5".
Want to confirm that I can stick with the 5" to the chimney or go up to 6" - didn't find any information while searching so figured I would ask what you guys have setup ..
Thank you.

I second that. You want to keep the size at the breach until you get into the chimney. Increasing prior to the chimney reduces gas speed and that means dropping more ash.

That is something I never thought of, the dropping ash part. Good point.coaledsweat wrote:I second that. You want to keep the size at the breach until you get into the chimney. Increasing prior to the chimney reduces gas speed and that means dropping more ash.
I went 5" to 6" quickly on mine. Poor draft is not an issue here though. I hit close to 1.0 sometimes, and I don't mean .1 without a baro.

Thanks for the replies all - sorry for the delayed response , letting work get the best of me lately.
I figured I was going with 5" to the chimney just wanted to see if any other Jr. Chubby burners had experienced any plus' or minus' going 6".
Have had a Chubby for a few seasons now in the basement and a Vigilant in the living room - done with the Vigilant ...
Was going to keep the Chubby in the basement and get a new one for the living room then I came across a Jr. in most excellent condition ! for short $$ so had to jump on it. It will work out quite nicely in the basement I think as the Chubby was always just idling along at 300-350 and it was hot down there !
Going to move the Chubby to the living room for now - maybe have a Glenwood no.118 lined up though so we will see , going to post about that in the proper place.
I have read so much on this site and am glad everyone is happy to share their experiences - have learned a lot here.
Thanks again !

I ran a 6 on my Jr. No problems. All depends on your individual set up and draft. Sorry I wasn't around when you started this thread but I was someplace along I40 in Tenn at the time and not really "online" while keeping my eyes open for Kojak's with Kodaks as we played "Smokey and the Bandit" across half the good ole USA.
As always should you have question don't be shy about contacting Larry or myself. HAPPY TO HELP ANYTIME!!!!

I went 5 inches all the way. Sticking several feet of 5 inch pipe up the chimney is very easy and produces an awesome draft.
