HI!
Ok I have an fellow "Chubbites" Keep posting pics of your installed Chubby's till the end of the month. At that point a vote will taken and the person who receives the most votes for the "BEST CHUBBY INSTALL" will win a CHUBBY STOVE Sweatshirt. Size of said shirt is XXL so Larry and I hope the winner will be of hearty stock!
Voting will last 7-10 days. Of course you can vote for your own install 1 time and voting is only open to members of NEPA in good standing. So this means NON CHUBBY OWNERS can and will be voting. Owners and employees of Chubby Stove inc are not eligible to win, but can and will vote. However these votes count just as much as any other vote. Attempts to coerce, bribe and suck up to the operators of this contest is appreciated but will have NO BEARING on the outcome.
So please spread the word and spruce up your install and post your pic(s) of your nstalled Chubby Coal Stove. Needless to say the size and model of the Chubby doesn't matter. All Chubby stoves are eligible.
Looking forward to seeing some great photos!
GOOD LUCK... You are going to need it!

Dubie,
Is that a rear vent stove? Odd, I've only known top vent stoves to have the scroll work around the top of the stove. Rear vent stoves usually only have the ship design on the front, no scroll work. Great photo!
Edit: I was just on the Chubby website and noticed the blower models have the same top as the top vents with the scroll work around the entire top.

There will be some varied opinions on this, But I will lend mine to the mixcoalfan wrote:just a couple of questions ,was wondering how much nut coal will the chubby hold, and can these nice little stoves be idled down for longer burns if neede without to much fuss ,and how do they put out the heat ? just radiant and of course the blower models blow it around I guess im getting at is do they somewhat heat the floor also ? thankyou in advance !
1. Once lit I have put 20lbs in the stove, in layers.
2. With a great draft and few bends in your vent pipe, and a properly cleaned out stove, you can idle it down for easy 12 hours with Less than 20 lbs. I got 17 once I believe, and I had triple ash duty afterwards.
3. The Coal Chubby has NO bricks, this is the main reason ( size too) that I wanted one. The heat in the pot can directly transfer to the outside of the Chubby. This can make it a learning curve to regulate at first depending on install and draft. IT can easily go up in temp or down and each stove and location has its sweet spot. Larry says his idles at 320 I believe in his video. Mine seems to need a tiny bit more draft and likes 370 for idle.
4. Shoulder days... I let my chubby go almost out and dig a hole near the middle without shaking and keep a small tiny round fire in the middle which is easily made bigger later with cleaning and restocking the coal.
5. All rebuilt and new Chubby's have a floor heat shield suspended at the bottom. This protects the floor from heat. I can touch my floor under my Chubby when its at 400 degrees if I want. It still needs to be on a non flamable pad, or bricks. Im sure others can tell you about older chubbys and the heat shield.
6. Heat, well I have a echo fan on top ( runs on heat only), and I run the house fan from the hot air furnace a couple times a day for a bit, just the fan part.
7. Chubby needs a shake down and a underneath hokey pokey at each service, and every few days a inside pokey as well on edges I have found.
8. Heat, Due to the fact that the Chubby has No bricks, you can easily steal heat from it by putting a box fan to one side. While this is awesome, and works well, youll need to open the draft a bit to keep up with the heat loss inside.
Hope this helps...

it must no be cold enough in the eastern part of the country yet. Not many want a warm shirt to wear! You have to go outside sometime!
A shameless bump, hoping to see more pics of others setups.
