Glass for Crane 404 Stove

Modern and vintage hand fired coal stove are similar to a wood stove and in some cases can burn either. They need to be regulated and fed by hand usually every 12 to 24 hours depending on your usage. They require no power to operate making them ideal for rural settings with long power outages.

Good evening everyone I picked up a crane 404 last friday and someone has taken the glass out of it and put steel plates in it, they also took the wire mash that goes in front of the glass, I would like to put glass and screen back into it I was wondering if any one would know if Doug would have any of these left or would I be better off to get some made up I also picked up a crane 44 about three weeks ago It needs a little work but both a usable the way they are I am using the 44 right now and loving it that little stove really packs a punch I can't wait to get the 404 piped in and running I thought I did pretty good I only paid $100.00 a pice for for the stoves
Thank you for any information

We had to buy 1 glass for our 404,any glass shop or stove shop that has ceramic glass should be able to cut it for you. We had to settle for 3/16" instead of the 1/4" original. Our stove has no screen either & likely never will.Congrats on the purchases.

Got the score of the month today. Whet to glass shop to get a piece for my 404. The guy cut two and gave me both for 25 bucks. Told me I bought the whole piece of 9 X 12 so it was me or the trash. Nice being a small town guy dealing with small town vendors in for the long haul.
