Yesterday 75, overnight 55, today 82-4, yep winter to summer in 3 days. We have a cold front bringing it back down to the low 60's on saturday and then mid 60's Sunday. I hope it stays at that temp. We've been so spoiled with the stoves that the house has been really warm all fall and winter. Before I heated with wood or coal I'd be wearing a sweatshirt as the mornings would be cool but now I notice I'm really cold. I understand what the new definition of cozy is. I hope the stoves are done for the season.

Still running the kitchen range here.

Woke up to 28 yesterday morning (May 7th). Days are going to get warmer, but here in the hill country, the nights still go down into the 40's. Damped down to it's slowest, the range doesn't use much coal, but it does do a good job of keeping the chill out.

Plus, with pro-pain up over $4.00 a gallon, I'm in no hurry to use the kitchen gas stove when I can do all the cooking on the coal range for less.

This is ridiculous. Just went and bought 20 more bags of coal yesterday. This is nut. Easier to handle than pea. 17th of May and frost warning again tonite...will it ever end.

I lit the econo 1 again yesterday and had it dialed down as low as I could get it and still keep a draft. LR was 80 when we went to bed. Operated two window stats upstairs. Got up this morning and the bedroom is chilly at 65. Came downstairs and the LR was 66. Outside temp was 45!!

Farmers around here are tilling their fields and turning them in prep for planting. Usually by this time they are planted and starting to sprout.

No sweet corn for the 4th of July this year

The local temperature around these parts of Ohio was only 36 to 37 degrees (depending on the internet source) this morning. And here it is May 18th.

Don't feel left out, I had to turn the thermo back from cool to heat the last 2 days here in Chatt. Mid 40's overnight and daytime highs in the 50's. More global warming.
