Isn't that only 35 lbs of coal? What do you do have a dozen of them?

How bad is the coal when bagged? Does anyone sell the oiled bagged coal in the CT RI area and delivers?

No, I have 9 of them to be exact . I can get a week unless Its real cold out and then Its only 5 or 6 days,I am setting up a outdoor bin and will oil it when I fill it so I can get some floor space back in the garage in the winter.Keepaeyeonit

RR, I used to get my coal from Wertz in Mechanicsburg and I know they always offered oiled coal. As of three years ago, I think they were charging $8 a ton to oil it. Whatever oil they used was effective at keeping the dust down. I think it was a light machine oil as opposed to a vegetable oil. It had no odor in the bin. At end of heating season there was some dust in the bottom of the bin but it was heavy because of absorbing the oil and was easily swept up without a mess.

Only effect I noticed in the stove was it did smoke a bit when I first filled the hopper. If for some reason I opened the filler door within 10-15 minutes of filling, a puff of smoke came out with a little odor.

I know what you're saying about the black dust. This year I got Blashack nut in bulk from Kuntz in Hummelstown. The day they delivered in November it was near freezing, and they didn't wash it during loading because they were afraid it might freeze in the truck. Not so bad in the finished side of the basement, but in the storage side where my coal bin and stove are, it's a mess, despite my trying to shovel and dump as gently as possible. Gonna give the shop vac a workout when I'm done burning for the year!

Kunts delivered coal last year for me (250.) per ton and they watered it down before delivering. This year I picked it up in Lykens for $170. A ton. And it was watered. I am going to try this place in Lancaster that will deliver it oiled for $225. A ton.
