Question? Paint manufacturer says cure paint @ 400 deg for 45 mins then 600 deg for 45 mins. Hitzer says keep the fires small for the "first few fires" to cure the stove. I wasn't planning on shutting it down. You guys think idling overnight /tomorrow is ok? Also where to take the stove temp. Middle of the top or front? Top has a blower duct but im not using the blower right now.

Hey it worked!!! That was too easy! Updated profile/image too! Still gotta get a coal hod. For now Home Depot pail. This stove rocks!! I shook it around 6pm last night even though it didn't really need it, just to get rid of the wood ash from the start up fire. Its ran all night, house at 75 ( granted it was 29 outside last night compared to the below zero norm) and its now 10:15 and still going strong!!! The wood stove I would have had to get up around 3am just to keep it going and it still would have been around 65 in here if I was lucky. There were times in that cold stretch woke up and it was 56!!! Wife not happy then... Much happier now. And notice in the pic... No wood grunge!!! What is she going to do with all her spare time she has now that she doesn't have to sweep the floor 15 times daily! Haha. . Very happy! :D

Congrats! Window-stats calibrated????? Sure is nice weather, but next week seems to be another deep-freeze period. Get some coal from Norm to get you by? It looks like it belongs right there.......now you can relax and sell the chainsaw, splitter, blah, blah, blah! Don't forget to get together with FF about the tricks and quirks. Looks like the folks at Burning Bush came through and were good to deal with.

Good people to deal with at the Burning Bush. And A+ to Hitzer. Stove was ordered on Friday and is in my living room 6 days later!

Wife and I cant say enough about this stove and coal in general! Idles easiliy for 24hrs without touching while keeping the house toasty, and when it was really cold, -18 the other night, woke up to a house temp of 74, and that wasnt even runnng it that hard! Wood stove and cold temps like that=wake up 56 deg!! Much happier now!! I don't miss setting the alarm to wake up at 2am to feed the stove wood and still wake up freezin!! Very happy campers!! :)

Very nice install, mine has been a champ all winter. Minimal maintenance and steady heat, what's not to love?
