Slowly but Surely Getting Ready to Switch From Wood to Coal

Modern and vintage hand fired coal stove are similar to a wood stove and in some cases can burn either. They need to be regulated and fed by hand usually every 12 to 24 hours depending on your usage. They require no power to operate making them ideal for rural settings with long power outages.

Stupid technical question.....I have a slew of PM's in my outbox but it doesn't look like they were sent. What did I do wrong?.

They will move to the sent box once they are read. Until then, they stay in the outbox.
No matter where you go,......there you are.

After some snoopin' for coal in Michigan, here's what I have found:

BAGGED

KW Feeds in Farwell Mi (989) 588-0549
$325/ton and will deliver for $40/ton

J&J Log Homes in Jonesville Mi (517) 398-1655
$276/ton. Stocks Rice, chest nut and pea. He can get stove on request but doesn't stock it.

BULK

Nobiles Landscape in Farmington (248) 474-4922
$336/ton. Keeps nut on hand.

Brickscape in Wixom (248) 333-2800
No answering machine to leave a message.

Reading Coal
$176/ton and you can arrange trucking for a bulk shipment.

Blaschak Coal
Have to go through a dealer.

SO.....some progress on the coal end. I will be contacting a friend of mine that owns a large dairy farm and see if they ever have grain hauled in or out to Pennsylvania. Might be able to work a deal there.

Did I miss any other known Michigan sources of coal?.

The place in Flint doesn't carry anthracite (so they said).....it's some funky hybrid from Virginia :gee:

There are a few more places I did call but they didn't sound like a sure and steady supplier.

Lester Bros. Excavating said they carry nut for $90/ton bulk and were just about out (I assume that's not anthracite as it's way cheap). They do sell bagged anthracite though.
