Hot enough so that your comfy, if you start to sweat its too hot.

3-400* is OK for a stove on the stack.

If that's the $400 stove you got a great deal! Did you paint it? Really looks nice.
The top of the stove will not give you an accurate reading, as there are air passages between the top of the stove and the top of the firebox. You can get a close reading from the side of the stove near the top. My pipe temperature usually runs from 150 to 300 degrees. If I leave the ash door vent open too far after reloading it can get up to 400, but that's overfiring the stove somewhat.
Have fun moving that piece of steel?
I've found that pea coal needs more air through the ash door draft vent to burn well, nut size I can run with less of an opening. I've found pea size seems to work best, though.
At some point you need to check the draft with a manometer, Harman says .06 to 1.0 " of WC, I run mine at .05.

If you don't have the blower that fits into the opening on the lower part of the back of the stove you should get one. The amount of heat produced is much higher with it. I can PM you with the info off the blower, you can get one from other distributors cheaper than from Harman.

HI WOODNCOAL THIS IS THE USED STOVE FOR $400.00 AND I DID PAINT IT YESTERDAY EVERYONE THAT LOOKED AT IT THOUGHT IS WAS A NEW STOVE...I DO HAVE THE BLOWER ON IT AND PLUG IN...I LUST WANDER IF THE M,ARK III BLOWER WOULD FIT MOUNT TO GET MORE AIRFLOW I ALSO HAVE DAMPNER OPEN 1 1/4 TURN AND BANKED UP COAL STILL HAVE GOOD FLAMES ABOUT 2 INCHES OF TOP OF COAL STACK TEMP WENT TO 175 DEGREES I WANDER HOW LONG FIRE WILL BURN LIKE THIS.........THANKS FOR YOUR POST

I'm not sure on the blower output, if it is different for the Mark I, II, and III. The manual covers all 3, but barely mentions the blower, it doesn't indicate any difference. Maybe there's some info on the website under the specs for each stove.
You'll be satisfied with that stove, and the price was right!
Figure at least 8 hours of burn time before you need to mess with it, individual results may vary.

I would be interested in that information as I am only getting a season or two out of a Harman blower.

Where do you buy the blowers at can you post information....where do you oil the blowers at??didnt see no hole at all........
