Today's the Day!

My shiny new DS Machine 1500 has been sleeping peacefully in the garage all week. I have a few friends on the way this morning to help me wrestle it down to the basement. If all goes well, we should be up and running for my first venture in the coal world early this afternoon!

awesome!! be careful going down the steps, you don't want to squash any beer cans! its a good day to fire it up the first time, not too cold to have a few windows open to allow the first burn smoke to get outside. maybe even throw a box fan in one of the windows to help.

Success! Four of us and a refrigerator dolly and she's in the basement. This was my first time lighting a coal fire and it went pretty well. Tons of info on this forum to get me moving in the right direction! Just waiting to see where the temp settles in and adjust from there. I didn't get too many pictures, there were no free hands to hold the camera, but I'll post a few this evening.

Currently cruising along at about 360 degrees at 3.6 on the dial and the MPD about 45 degrees open. I have no idea what I'm doing, but it seems to be working so far. A little smokey from all the paint burning off, but all the CO detectors are happy!

Awesome loco627, it isn't as easy as turning up the thermostat, but it sure is a fun hobby, saving money that is!
