ok did that and temp is 325 at that location.... also I think I have to much slack in the chain, because I have to turn it up to setting 4 just to open the flap at all.. anything under 4 the flap is closed with a bit of slack in the chain.

try 7 and see if the flap is just barely open or about to be at 1.75 on dial.

by the way, i'm talking about number of beads UNDER the adjuster seat, just so that's even here and there.

we are not going to leave the adjustment long enough for the stove to go out. neither will it likely go out at all even if you leave it turned down to 1 on dial. the stove and air around it will cool the bi metal to the point it will pull the flap back open even if just 1/32".

unless maybe you have it on bead 1 too.

we are working hopefully as quickly as possible to find the slack setting that will have you at 250* stove top at 1.75 on the dial.

ok just making sure we are on the same page. I want to turn it down to the lowest possible temp, as it will be close to 60 degrees tomorrow.

i understand, did you try bead 7 and what was the result, is the flap hovering at 1.75 on the bi metal dial ?

what is your stove top temp now ?

for reference my stove is now running 200* stove top at bead 5 and 1.25 on the bi metal dial.

we should be able to quickly find the slack adjustment that will have you running 250* at 1.75 and you can turn it down from there.

temp is 200 degrees at bead 8 and turned down all the way to lowest setting. and flap open just a hair.

you can do as you like but if it was me, i'd go back to bead 7 and turn it up till the flap just opens and holds you there at 200*. that will leave you with a little room below that to experiment with lower temps.

seems to me your very close, but I myself would like to be able to go lower than 200* if possible

ok I am confused here. if I go back to bead 7 and turn knob it goes all the way until 3.5 until it starts to open. being at setting 3.5 wont I be roasting?
