Gasket Install

Modern and vintage hand fired coal stove are similar to a wood stove and in some cases can burn either. They need to be regulated and fed by hand usually every 12 to 24 hours depending on your usage. They require no power to operate making them ideal for rural settings with long power outages.

Jack, I use the cement that comes with the kits--works fine--after 3 seasons I'm changing all gaskets just because I can & they're not that expensive--especially the flat gasket on my hopper door.

I concur. Always a good idea to use the adhesive to ensue a nice tight fit.

I use Red RTV now. I dislike the adhesive crap that comes with the gaskets. I also change all my gaskets every year. It's cheap and I don't have to worry about them failing halfway through the season like they did one year.
