Replacing the hopper door gasket on my hitzer 50-93. My first time ,any tricks or tips I should know?

Yup, what he said. Don't use the sodium silicate crap they sell for gaskets.

I've used Permatex Ultra Copper on everything for close to 20 years now. I highly recommend it. It's tough, and does what it's supposed to.

IS it usually stocked at a hardware store?

Most auto part stores will carry it.

And so will most hardware stores. HD, Lowes etc. If they don't have the copper, the ultra black works well andis what I've always used.

Also, don't stretch the gasket material. Dry fit it before applying adhesive.

The fiberglass rope I bought last yr was recommended to be installed "wet". When I tried it, it didn't seem to be too absorbent. Is this typical?

I always buy mine off Amazon. I don't like leaving the compound much, as you guys probably knew already ...
