I am looking at buying this cook stove and I have been emailing the owner about it.

All I can see on it is Colombian star and sunshine stoves . Here are some photos . I haven't looked at it in person yet but I believe everything to be there from conversations.

Can anyone help with any info on this stove brand? Is it worth it guys?
And what would you pay for it?

Nice--do I see a shaker handle in the second pix???That's similar to what I had in Vt. but a warm morning or home comfort or some friggin thing I think that was??? just gettin old & forgetful PS--I'd pay whatever YOU think it's worth. When I got mine (in the 70's) the guy toild me to just get it out of his barn.

Good lord, if I could count the number of those stoves I have seen. Exact same 8-20 number, same configuration. The only thing that changes is a few details, handle positions, etc. The body, base, lids, etc, are all the same. I have seen them with Kineo, Star Kineo, Glenwood, Atlantic, Home Atlantic, Star, Modern Glenwood, and more that I can't remember. Everyone made THAT stove. If it is in good shape, look at the area in the back of the firebox and particularly where the flue attaches, a cast iron piece turns 90 degree's bolted on. Generally if the firebox is in good shape, so is the rest. I have used one just like it in my hunting camp and it has been there for 52 years. I miss that this week in particular.

I have seen them from the $1000's down to $250. It depends how much work it needs to bring it to full glory. I noticed the front apron is off, ours fell off and we left it off. But you will want it back on.

It was listed as a warm morning stove. But I have been having a hard time finding info on it.

Having a brain cramp...... Ah! check with the people at Bryant's Stove Works in Thorndike, ME. They are wonderful and very knowledgable about many kinds of stoves.

Like Kevin said check that firebox out. What kind of grates are in it and is it lined? If it's set up for coal, it was have two bar grates geared together and refractory around the box. That's not a deal breaker (if it's not) but will cost to convert to coal. Other than that they are all quite similar except that some of the cabinate type had the ash pit down well below the grates and had a door in front to remove the ashes. Those type were great for coal cause you could never warp the grates with too much ash. (anythings possible but you'd have to really try hard) Crawford Fortress is that cab type range. It will need to be rebuilt of course and sealed but check the firebox and make sure the oven isn't rusted through.
