My only concerns are your thimble and pipe clearances in the corner. I would think an insulated thimble would be in order as well as maybe an insulated elbow to clear the back and side wall before transitioning to single wall to the stove. I have my thimble in a block wall so I am unsure of the thimble part with the framing so close. I can only hope others have more experience and will help you out more.

The thimble appears to be encased in concrete. I have no qualms about cutting away more drywall as necessary.2001Sierra wrote:My only concerns are your thimble and pipe clearances in the corner. Yes, but the clearances to the sheetrock on the backside look close. I know there are clearances of the concrete or masonary due to the fact the material conducts heat. What does the backside look like where the sheetrock is located?

Only thing I can add is be real careful going through the clay tile. Keep up the good work. Matt

For sure very brittle material, no hammers.

I think I understand what ur asking. I just took a pic of the other side. Apparently the concrete/mortar or whatever is the exterior of the chimney. Here is a pic of the backside (furnace room) Is this what u meant?

The backside seems to be very close to sheetrock.
New to Coal and Just Bought My First Stove
This may need to be cut back as well to meet the required clearances, for the thimble as it passes through.

Its tough to see from your picture, but once you get through the concrete block the support if you will, you should see a clay liner that you will have to go through if not already done. Then you can mortar your thimble in place. Matt

Ok, yes I figured I'd need to cut that out more.2001Sierra wrote:The backside seems to be very close to sheetrock.

I may be wrong but I thought that was the thimble mortared in place. After I removed the cap, the clay liner is visible.DePippo79 wrote:Its tough to see from your picture, but once you get through the concrete block the support if you will, you should see a clay liner that you will have to go through if not already done. My concern is the exposed radius of sheetrock with regards to the visible thimble. Also if you extend the visible thimble to the inside you just need to maintain clearances recommended by your supplier. As well on the backside that you have revealed.
