A Sunny Side ?
Hi all. Just an update about the Sunnyside performences.
This morning, at feeding time for the Sunny, I looked back in my book and saw about the same numbers for last year time/date as this year but just with the Sunnyside burning. The Golden is still waiting for colder days
Same outside temp, same inside temp., same total anth load but just in one stove... Curious good ""problem""
Hope to read more comments from other antique stoves owners, many come on the forum, get the infos and good-by. That makes me so sad

Pierre, what's to be sad about! Sounds like mission accomplished with the sunnyside! My two Glens are purring along right now and the stove is (feels hot to me) 72. Outside it's 20F (-6.6c) and tonight about 11f (-11c) so pretty winter like temps. The 116 is only 350f and the cookstove is the same! Have used zero oil or propane this year when I was home.
PS: Merry Christmas to your and your family. Hope this is a great year for all of you!

Thanks Steve.
In fact I'm not that sad It seems like we have about the same out. temp. here like yours just one * lower here.
Nice the see that you can heat your large house with the Antiques.
Stay warm and have a good Christmas time.

Hi, not much to say about the stoves: they both work so well, can't be happier than with these 2 friends.
So in a more serious world, I wanted to show you where I got some trims for the Sunnyside. On the sides, there are 2 towers like, originally ending like??? So I looked a long time before finding StSt soup spoons. Got them for about $3.00 each, and the look is almost the same as nickel plating. So before spending $$$ on nickel parts I gave the spoons a try. I cut the bowls for the tower's top and kept the handles for the sides bottom grills.

I think that is it, here is a photo showing the ""tower like"", the top was probably covered with some ?crown?top ring? when designed but no catalogs in 1874.echos67 wrote:So you used the bowl part to cover the mounting hardware at the level with the "Sunnyside" name plate ?

Remember when you first got this stove you were worried about it and I told you not to worry?
In fact Will, I remember 2 times when you told me that: don't worry about....First when I was looking at the Golden Bride and the second one was for the Sunnyside.
You got a 100% + score. Now we get real Canadian cold and the house is warmer than ever. The antiques are doing a so nice and easy heating job.
Thanks Uncle Will

He told you not to worry but you never know till you have a chance to see for yourself. William is my go to guy for expertise on these old beauties and all of us have learned from him and become experts in our own minds! It's great to see other people creativity though. It inspires me. Thanks for that Pierre!

I must say that I learned so much here on the forum and got so many from other members. So many thing we can learn from other peoples, in every fields...
I know that I'm a little on the modifs side but can't stop it
When top loading the Sunnyside, anth parts were falling on the mica's front and were accumulating there, pushing against the mica. Not a so big issue but was bothering me a little. I had some grill bars left from the Vigll . I cut and trim them to fit in front of the mica. Some wire mesh was also left but only a strip, so I cut it in 3 parts and place them outside of the grill bars. Now I have a better sleep time and the mica stay cleaner too The photos are from 1month ago and no need for cleaning the mica as you can see on the photos. It may look like affecting the view of the fire on the pics but not in the real life.
