Since burning seasons has begun, I'm curious as to what temperature you try to maintain? 300-400 degrees? Or do you belt out a 650 degree fire all day :)

Hi JJLL I Run mine around 300F in the day then around 400F maybe 450F at night sometimes if I forget to adjust the Air
it will hit 550F to 650F  I try to keep it around 300F to 400F Stack Temp Runs From 110F to 150F at that stove Temp But it will hit 200F to 250F at the higher stove Temps But that is only when the Heat Reclamer Is Off :o

I don't yet have a thermometer on stove, but stack temp runs consistently at 100-125 degrees. Expect will be a little higher when weather gets colder.

Stack Temp around 130 on idle and 175-200+ Deg. on full burn (Temp. Probe in pipe just before chimney),
Magnetic stove temp 300-400 degrees on the front.

I only monitor my stack temp with a magnetic device. Right now into the early season it sits right at 115.

Hmmmm.....

I've always used just a magnetic thermometer on the top of the stove.....and my Harman insert has an 'air jacket' that runs underneath, 'round back, and over the top of the stove......so there is a bit of a buffer between the firebox and the outer skin.
When daily temps were 50's or above, I drafted lean so thermometer read 150-200 - and even then I had to open windows!
Temps now...30's -40's I draft it to near 300 - windows slightly open.

Frostbite cold??? 300-350 degrees with only one window in the whole house craked.

BUT.... I just bought a new thermometer for this burning season (the old one broke) and it reads temps lower that the one it replaced (about 50-75 degrees lower). So I'm now adjusting to that.

Remember - My Harman has that air jacket and blower motor to help regulate heat dissipation.......So my home gets real hot real quick!!!!

right now around 300ºF stove temp and around 100ºF stack temp, most winter days 600/200-300 but in the middle of january on a windy day 800/350. w/out a baro (cant have on on a bit. stove, when it puffs you'll get soot in the house). with a baro, anthricite hand fired, stack temp should generally be 1/3 stovetop temp PRE baro. post baro even less.

I have a magnetic thermometer on the stack below the baro. It runs 150 to 300+ depending on how much air I give the fire. I don't think the magnetic coil thermometer is very accurate, at some point I'm going to switch to a probe type.

I also have the KODIAK and average 400 degrees F at hottest area on the side with heat shield's 4" away from side, Stack temp at 3' above outlet is 160 average. I have a water coil in stove and am working on a heat exchanger on the stack pipe. Average daily coal use is 45# @ 35 degrees outside temp with all outside air for combustion. I have gotten a 48 hr burn with stove on low but there was only enough red ambers to restart it with wood then back to a full coal fire withen a hour.

The heat is drawn off the stove with a blower and ducted into the cold air return and I will maintain 74 degrees without the furnace blower, outside temp 30 - 40 degrees.
