New to the Coal World and Need a Little Direction

Modern and vintage hand fired coal stove are similar to a wood stove and in some cases can burn either. They need to be regulated and fed by hand usually every 12 to 24 hours depending on your usage. They require no power to operate making them ideal for rural settings with long power outages.

The Warm Morning was designed to burn Bit coal, it has unique hollow corner firebrick that create preheated secondary air passageways, these burn off the volitiles in Bit coal, reducing or eliminating excess smoke. The lower price and shorter distance to the mines may make Bit a serious contender for your solid fuel needs.

I am interested in bit coal and I knew the WM was designed to burn bit coal but I liked the advantages to anthracite, although I did not know the flues were designed to burn the volitiles off. I need to build my coal shed first before I get the bit coal. I don't believe they sell but in bags. I was thinking of buying a much of trashcans and loading in those in my trailer and truck though. We mine bituminous coal in VA as well but that in another quest to find out where I can buy bulk bit coal in VA. I can get a truck load if I buy a massive tonnage of bit. I have two other little stoves though so it will be fun trying it all out.

I did burn bituminous in the WM already and it did very well. I will report the anthracite burning after tonight.

Thanks!

This forum always cuts the horizontal pics by 25% and I have no idea why but anyways if you look closely you will see the flames coming from the WM refractory flues. The stove is holding awesome at 500f while I heat up the house. :) I really love coal.

Nice pictures, great looking stove. Looks like you really had it roaring in the pictures!

Blaschak makes an excellent product, you will find that it provides long burn times and shakes down easily.

I will add more and keep her going for the winter. I am so impressed by this Warm Morning stove! It was an old rusty stove in a salvage yard for $90 that I happened to just see and bought for the heck of it. It's heating my 1286 sq. ft. Pretty well.

I envy NH right now that you are 19 degrees. I don't know if you've ever visited VA but the weather is up and down all the time. Freezing at night and summer in the day!

This is great news to hear! I wish I had found you before thursday! I just made hauled 2400lbs from culpeper VA to Richmond.

I am interested in purchasing a large order from you sometime soon though.

It looks like on your website that you only sell lump bit coal correct? I am going to email you guys about pricing on a large delivery. I am very interested in burning bit because of it's cheaper cost. Also what region do you get your bit coal from?

I'd certanly try some and see how how it performs. Your Warm Morning was designed for it so give it a go. Just remember that its more like wood burning and needs secondary air above. Bigger chunks are better. The website shows test results that look like high quality Kentuky lump.

Preston from Martin Farms just brought me two bags to try out. With the great customer service and good talk about how well this
stuff burns, I may just have to hang my hat on traveling to get anthracite. They keep coal in stock year round as well. A major plus for a black smith.
