I can't wait to see what mine does when it's down in the teens and 20's. I'm told it will burn even better ..........
If coal can keep this house warm in those temps & lower, it'll keep anyone's house warm. ;)

I ran the calculation that Saragnac did using my info ... and the strange thing is, with coal I used the exact amount of BTU's to heat the place ... except the temp in the house was 10° - 12° warmer. Guess the oil burner needs some work. It's a '96 and has a 85% efficiency rating too ... go figure.

I won't be missing my oil burner this winter. I'm using it right now in the "interim" until the cold weather sets back in next weekend (hopefully). It's odd. The house is at 69-70 degrees but that same temp with the coal feels A LOT warmer. I think that it's probably the fact that it's forced hot air - the worst type of heat in my humble opinion....

Who would have very thought that I would be excited and looking forward to/anticipating the frigid temps????
