Hand Fed Coal Stove: DS Machines DS-1600 Hot Air Circulator
Location: Vernon, New Jersey

Man, what a long drive that was yesterday. Took me 3 hours to get to DS Machines in Gordonville, PA then another 3 hours to get home. I picked up my new DS-1600 (rated at 125k BTU per the owners manual). It took four friends and one 3/4" tongue and groove door borrowed from my son's room (unfortunately there are no pictures of this contraption)to get the 600 pound heaty monster off the back of my truck through the front door and into the living room of the house. It now sits on a furniture dolly made out of 2x4 about 4' from the Chubby. The stove will be installed on Saturday January 8th and fired up Saturday January 8th in the afternoon.

I will no longer be in the "One Match Club". :( Unless lighting a new stove does not count towards the club? ;)

My wife still thinks the stove is "Ugly" but now she has added the words, "Really Large". My 11 month old daughter however loves the stove; she tries to open the doors.

Funny, those are both terms my wife uses to describe me. :?

Yeah, I've been busy since Christmas. DS actually called me up yesterday morning when I was about to get ready to go the the dump, post office and see Bob or his dad over at American for some coal. I figured picking up the new stove would be more fun that doing errands. I have lurked the site when I had the chance though but made no posts.

Your going to get a lot of heat out of that!! Congats on you purchase. Just please, please, please do not let you daughter get comfortable touching the stove so nothing happens once its up and running.

Yeah, no I'd never let my "L'il Wiggly" touch a burning stove. We keep her a safe distance away from the Chubby now and will do the same with the 1600.

Good work getting it in the house. Hopefully no one lost any skin and the door jambs are all intact. Next step is getting the smoke pipe setup and baking the paint...be prepared to open lots of windows.

Surprisingly, no one got hurt getting it off the truck and into the house. My door frame was 34" wide so I had plenty of room to spare too.

All of the windows will be open on Saturday.

Hey! Awesome. I took those with my smartphone....camera on it is pretty good but the flash doesn't always work to illuminate well enough.

In fact I'm typing this reply from my phone regardless of having a laptop and a desktop computer sitting no more than 4' from me. I don't feel like getting out of my recliner. That and I'll miss the Jetsons. ;)

After moving that new stove you have earned some recliner time.

After all the effort and work and enthusiasm you have put into this project I am sure you will more than get your moneys worth in satisfaction.

Congratulations on your new stove.

Ugly will get replaced by...
It is so nice and warm...
It only needs to be fed and shook twice a day...
Once it bakes the paint and is in full operation...
