bigchunk, you will like the SF250, it is quite a stove. With the built-in heat exchanger, it really pushes the heat out.

GregWhite, a forum member near me here in Michigan has the 'little brother' to the SF 250, it is an out-of-production SF150, just one brick smaller firebox than the SF250. His does a very good job heating his shop. He burns wood during the fall and spring when just a 'chill-breaker' is needed and burns anthracite and bituminous during the long cold winter days/nights.

I'm sure you will be happy with the heat output of the Harmon. How are you going to distribute the heat around your big colonial house? Do you have ductwork installed or since it is a very old house, does it still have the ventilation grates in the ceilings/floors of the rooms??

the house doesnt have duct work. it has a mclain gas boiler in basement the steam runs into cast iron radiators they are in all the rooms. they are all very good at doing the job. the floors do not have cut outs for heat into upper floor. the Harman will be on first floor in the family room where the pellet stove used to be, I will not be using the water coil or the heat collector. im hopeing the blower on the stove will push suffecently and along with the heat that radiates off the stove I will be kept warm during the winter months.im getting a ton of bagged nut anthracite to start me off. and some split ash . . I wanted the sf 250 for its heat output.

Hey Bigchunk--

Take a peak at my SF-250. I'm anxious to fire her up in a few months. I plan on a new mod for this coming season. It shall heat better than ever.

very nice, sure it works very well. its good that the extras are avalible. I will not be using the hot water coil or the heat collector. I hope the blower and the stove itself will emanate the heat iam looking for.i do know one thing, the burn pot in the pellet stove is a lot smaller than the burn area in the sf 250. when the stove is installed I will post a pic.
