Its all good. Figured some one else would jump in with a better solution. I knew Stove / Furnace Cement would be difficult to use. Next time I replace gaskets I'll be using silicone myself as opposed to the glue that is supplied with the rope. I hate that stuff.

CC,I know it's by Rutland--but--how is the temp rating--it said concrete floor sealing??? I know I could read the whole schmeel--but--I'm being lazy today :) plus it seems to me that a tube of high temp would be more controllable application wise??? I don't mind hi-tech when it seems reasonable & will cut a job in half

Takes care of eggs too...
Works just fine...
It is the only thing I use on stove gaskets...
Turned my friends on to WG at the Iron House they love it...
And they sealed up 3500 sq feet of basement floor with it too...
Flows on with a paint brush at full strength...
Get a nice narrow trim brush...
Make sure you wash the brush after...
Bonus is when you regasket after using the WG...
No old stove cement to chip out... :D

****Update****

I bought and installed some rope gasket on my old stove. This morning I went to shake it, and found there was a good amount of coal left to burn. I also noticed that the ash was much finer and a lot less "chunks" in it. It seems that the gaskets made a difference. Is that what it sounds like to you guys?
