I was wondering what other 50-93 owners are using in their stoves. I have been using pea but was going to switch to nut when I buy in bulk this year. Does anyone have a problem with nut being difficult to flow in the gravity hopper?

I have always used nothing but NUT(Blaschak) my choice----I've been idleing for over a week now---I never got into the Rice use---there are a couple of tricks on the 50-93 to get her to idle nice & low---but---definetly NUT--I believe it is what is recommended for the 50-93--I went through 3 ton heating a 2500 sg. ft old (1800's farmhouse) :) no problems at all with hopper flow

I also use only nut, fired it yesterday for the first time this year and had it idling at 150* all day and turned it up last night and will do first shake this morning after 24 hrs. Thought about trying pea but I'm having such good luck with the nut that why mess with a good thing.

The 'rents use Pea Coal in their 503 spring and fall...
Helps cut the very strong draft...
Can not put a baro on an insert...
Damper is shut all burning season...
