Real nice looking job on the stove, hard to remember from my brick lining days but there are only about three fire brick Co.s left in the U.S. & I think A.P. Green just took over another one. They do make some excellent cements & there is also a softer brick that is real easy to cut.
These bricks are curved, with a groove and a notch, I don't think it would be possible to carve a standard firebrick into their shape. There seems to be 8 bricks that took the brunt of the fires, and the top circle of bricks is in better shape. I was wondering if there might be generic 16" curved firebrick but no luck so far. Almost ready to put it together, put a better spray finish on it today. It's wet in the pic, the Rustoleum seems to dry pretty flat despite being called satin.

Did you try any of these places for fire bricks.Dann757 wrote:These bricks are curved, with a groove and a notch, I don't think it would be possible to carve a standard firebrick into their shape. If the bricks are all the same you could make a mould and cast your own...

I was given a kenmore stove that looks almost like the stove Dann has in this post. It's a model#102-100330 and needs a complete teardown from sitting out in a pole barn for 25 years. The grates are prefect and all the bricks also, rusty brown porclean skin. The fire box is 17" wide and 14" deep. There are no gaskets just steel on steel and all the seams need sealed.I will add pics. later.
Dann did you ever use your kenmore and how did it preform and how much heat did it put out

Please post a picture of what it looks like now. A friend is getting his identical stove back from a friend he sold it to, tomorrow. He’s been experimenting with burning Anthracite is his Quadra-Fire wood stove, on a homemade elevated grate. He got the Kimmel burning, but it didn’t stay burning; even after putting wood on top to keep the coal burning. Did you find a source of the firebrick?Dann757 wrote: ↑Tue. I picked up this old Sears for $99. Needs restoration but basicly intact. Grates are good, couple cracks in one firebrick. If anybody knows how to find out the year, it's model 119.100121. I have no guess. Very simple, seems almost art deco.
The old codger I got it from said "I didn't know the base was cracked." Yeah right, is that why you wrapped plastic around the base? I already brazed the break, seems to be holding. Whatever, I think it was worth the price.

This thread is from 2010. I doubt you will ever get an answer.WIburnerPaul wrote: ↑Sun. Mar. 05, 2023 1:58 pmPlease post a picture of what it looks like now.
