No I'm not using a damper or meter to check draft. Didn't think I needed that expense. Stove was drafting fine a few days ago and I was getting lots of heat. Then this problem, but now I put some pea coal in and it seems better. Is it possible to get bad coal.? I bought 3 tons of nut and from what I read here the nut should actually draft better then the pea. Altho I burn a couple of bags of this nut and it seemed fine.

Draft will drop on warmer days...
I ran a Mark II with a short 12' Metalbestos chimney outside wall mount with no problems...
Used a baro damper...
You seem to have two issues...
Smoking...
Lack of heat...
Hard coal does not smoke...
If Pea Coal gives you more heat it could be too much draft sucking all the heat up the chimney...
