Fire Creeping up My Hopper

Third season with my 30-95, very satisfy with facilities and comfort from my Hitzer anthracite stove.
I am following the forum closely since then and had been very helpfull to me.
Two questions:
1. Does the new Hitzer model comes with those holes in top of the hopper?
2. Do you recommend drilling holes in top of mine, in the rear I suppose, What size, will this modification stop rust under the cover? I gave a try once removing the hoopper, within 2 days of normal heating; the interior cover turn to a nice beige color and all the rust dissappeared.
Help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

OUTSTANDING---I do not have the holes in my hopper & would not drill them if the new gasket fixed the problem---if it ain't broke don't fix it
