No complaints here either at 74 in 2100 sq ft with a average of 30lbs per day, only burned 3726 lbs so far since 10/4/14, predicting to go through roughly 5,000 lbs this year, I would say there alright lol

Is it really worth the aggravation of having to modify a new unit if you could spend less than $500 more to buy a unit that is designed for burning coal from the manufacturer at the bottom of this page ??

When we give the amount of coal used in a furnace or boiler we have to do as was pointed out to me..Add the handfed usage to the total or any other form of heating needs to be factored in.Example.... I added 220# to my boiler last night for the previous 24 hrs + 40 pounds in the handfed,so my total usage was 260#.

I seem to remember someone posting a price on a Hitzer furnace that was only $250 more than the USS stove, but maybe it was an old posting? Adding all heat sources usage would apply to anyone.

Ok well this is the only heat source used so we can scratch that off the list, this was the best deal at the time for 960 dollars, I'm sure there's great deals all over the U.S. But for the 45 minutes of MODS I can't beat it.

That only averages 25 lbs per day heating roughly 900 sq ft at 55-60

Well it looks as tho you should use the furnace to heat the garage as well. Comparing the 2 units & what they each burn vs what each unit heats looks as tho the furnace wins the efficiency contest. OR is your garage so poorly insulated vs your house ? Is the garage a stand alone building ?
