13 hanging, hooked to 14, running like a champ! Should have bought this stove 3 years ago when I bought the stoker 105.

Like I told B, wait till spring & do 28 balls--give ya full range on the dial control. In my opinion, ya can't beat the 50-93 or 30-95--not a lot of bells & whistles--just HEAT.

So if you have 28 hanging, what are you set at right now on the Stove?

It's damn hot if I put my hand on it--that's the best I can tell ya. :) Come spring we can talk about getting her to idle down to damn near nothing without losing the fire. Just went & looked--I'm on 7 1/2 or so. I don't really get into all the didactic stuff--I just run her so it's comfortable.

Thanks guys! I'm not gonna mess with it 'till spring as long as it's working this well, at least now I know I'm in the ballpark with it. So 400 degrees on the top is OK? Any idea what the Max is on these stoves?

I'm wondering that my self. The 30-95 I've had above 650°. But I don't know if that was the best for it.

Not bein a smart ass but I'd suspect above 700 you're gonna start wharpin grates. 650 would be a real short term stop for me--I'd be dialing down big time seems a real good spot to call safe max. No thermo but I'm guessin 400-450 is her sweet spot.

If you didn't have the 105 first, you'd have nothing to compare the 50-93 too. The 50-93 is a heating machine.

It's amazing how well this stove works! Got home at 6:30pm, haven't touched the stove since 5am. House was at 67°. Stove was at 375°. Emptied the ashes, shake down, reload. Bump Stove from setting of 10 to 10.5, house is now 73° at 8:45pm. Got money bet that the wife wakes up in the middle of the night and cracks open the window. Lol. It's currently 13° out side!
Don't get me wrong I like the 105 But this thinking is amazing and no worries of a motor shutting off or the power going out!

I’ve had my 50-93 running for a week now since the weather finally turned nice outside (0-35 degrees outside is my favorite temps). My wife needs to have the house at 70-73 or she gripes how cold it is. I’ve been burning a 5 gallon bucket and a coal bucket worth of coal every day with highs around 30 and lows in the low teens. My stove is also in the basement. I have 3” of blown in insulation in my attic and that’s it. My stove is also set at 10. An hour or two after shake down and she’s burning 380-420 on the sides and 185 on the top with the blower running. Pipe is about 145-150 one foot from the breech of the stove. Bottom ash vents are open just enough to see orange spots after a fresh shake down with the lights off. -.05 to -.07 on my draft with my MPD 3/4 closed. My draft is different than most though because I’m hooked into a 12x12 fireplace flue. I am also burning blashak nut this year instead of S&T nut. I made mistakes last year by trying to push more coal out of the hopper than what fell out on its own resulting in high ash buildup around the sides of the hopper so I got pissed and pulled the hopper out and ran it as a batch fed stove. That worked good too but it took longer to tend and had higher temp swings on the stove. I will say after burning a Harman Mark 3 for 15 years the Harman grates are second to none as far as keeping an even fire with really no need ever to poke and prod. That’s the only spot I feel hitzer could improve. The 50-93 will heat well for you. I found the more violent you are with shakedowns the better everything works out
