Does anyone have any info. or history on Orange Disc Anthracite?
Found some old ink blotters dated October 1944 while going through old family things.

You are right Jack . That was the old Payne Coal Company out of Wilkes-Barre, Pa. They had their main office in the old Miners Bank building, downtown Wilkes-Barre.Den034071 wrote:Jim in my mining collection I have come across Orange Disc coal .I believe the parent company was from the Pittston Wilkes Barre area .Let me do some research . jack
They mixed the little orange cardboard discs in their loads as a marker, similar to when Blue Coal sprayed the tops of their rail cars.
Just old time advertising, at its best.
