I just bought an antique tape measure in a leather case that says "Pitttsburg and Shawmut Coal Co. ,Kittanning Penna." on the case. I googled it and only got links to a railroad named Shawmut. Does anyone know anything about this coal company?
This may help;

They are listed by county and as much info that's

I did find a little information about the P&S Coal Co. at one of the links Big Barney gave me. It started in 1900 and was sold in 1947, the same time as the Shawmut Line RR. It did not say if mining contiued after that date. Original company offices were in Buffalo and Rochester NY.
I found other very interesting coal region information and pictures at these links also.
