I was recently hiking at the new Nescopeck State Park and there are ruins of housing, river crossings, and possible an old train bed. Does anyone know if it was a coal or a logging area , both or none of the above.

Also, my wife's grandmother grew up near a town called Peoples. They even had a postmark - but where is or was Peoples? The best I can figure out it was near Swatara State Park but am not sure - maybe it is one of those towns that was "lost" when I81 came through.

If you are speaking about the housing ruins near the fishing lake, Lake Francis, that whole area was once planned to be flooded back in the 1970's, but the project never materialized.

The Nescopeck State park area was once an area of small farms and summer cottages along the creek. There was no coal mining in that area.
