Lansdale #9 Tour & Museum

I finally took the tour this past w/e. I wasn't as satisfied with the tour guide and his information as I hoped. I was more interested in learning the history of mining, the development of the tunnels, the length of tunnels, years it took to build, and how the mining company could determine exactly where the beds of coal lie. Instead I got a lot of useless info with a guide who barely knew the facts himself. He was more interested in scaring the kids with threats of bats and rats.

And you would think they would have a working stove in the museum to demostrate a live coal fire to folks from out of the area who may never have experienced coal heat. The museum was not heated and very chilly & damp. This group needs a little more ethusium and make it worth one's while if they intend on staying around. I wouldn't reconmend it to anyone unless you are a cave dweller. Go take the free tour in Pottsville of the Yuengling Brewery.

I agree. I had the same poor experience with the tour guide. He gave stastitics that were obviously false. It was embarrassing. It was so bad that I complained at the office. The lady said something like 'oh no, he's doing it again'. So obviously they know they have a problem. And this was a year ago. Regardless of the tour guide I would still recommend the tour. But if you want real information, if you get the young kid, you will need to find it yourself.
