i had a great father a infantry ww 2 tech sergeant . While during a visit to the ww 2 monument in washgton dc some 20 years age, the german navy had a contingent of 20 Sailors They presented a wreath to the European theater of the war side of the monument. My father hobbled around being elderly at the time and was obviously a veteran. A younger spectatorer came to my father and clearly said "weren't they the one we were trying to kill". My father responded we were not trying to kill them, we were trying to stop Hitler!
It was during this time while walking away from the monument my father told me he was a sniper, I was lucky to get back alive. he was very silent about the war.War is only good for population control he stated often.
I wish he could come back and ask him some question ,not about the war , but other family stories mostly about his parents immigration from Lithuania around 1900, when Russia was taking lithuanians to fight one of their wars...... true story

I did it the other way around. Been brush hogging since 8:30, coffee time ran a little late. Came in to get lunch and my daughter called. Son working nights so I expect that call later.

Well, I was kinda right. My son showed up and he had a rear brake gone. Oh, and I have to leave for work in an hour he says . just another day.

I'm several days late, and THOUSANDS of dollars short ... but I concur! :D
