I have seen Mauser pistols that have a wood holster/butt stock. I think I saw a browning high-power that had a mount for one too. I wonder if those are old enough to be exempted?

There were no prohibition on guns with OALs and barrel lengths in late 1700s ...

The ATFs new "rule" regarding "pistol braces" this is the pistol and case/holster I'm referring to https://www.jbmilitaryantiques.com.au/product/rep ... k-holster/davidmcbeth3 wrote: ↑Mon. Feb. 20, 2023 8:06 pmExempted from what ??

I am familiar with that "brace". I don't believe that there was a "grandfather" clause in the ATF rule.carlherrnstein wrote: ↑Tue. Also, for many AR pistols, some states wrote into law that if the barrel has a "shroud" that allows the user to handle the barrel due to the shroud then that makes the firearm a "Other" firearm. The solution is to remove the shroud and wear a heat resistant glove if wishing to hold the barrel area.
Barrel length and over-all length determines where most guns category fall into as far as pistol and long gun. Ones where barrel length is >12" and the OAL is shorter than a "long gun" length fall into "Other" usually.

See ^^ for definitions .. stocks, if fold-able, are unfolded for examination
