How could we possibly be freest when a politician is ranked by how many laws are to his credit? Probably the most laws on the books because of it. From Wikipedia: "Congress has enacted approximately 200–600 statutes during each of its 115 biennial terms so that more than 30,000 statutes have been enacted since 1789."

I have always thought that if the rule of law was that we could only do what a law allows us to do that we would be able to do anything by now. So much is the compulsion for legislative bodies to make law is.nut wrote: ↑Sun. Apr. 16, 2023 8:40 amHow could we possibly be freest when a politician is ranked by how many laws are to his credit? Wiki does not appear to be accurate..congress, a few years ago, made a committee to just count the # of federal laws..they could not even do that. Its likely >> 30K.
Viva La France, enjoy your baby soup (to the alternate universe where my idea of the rule of law noted here is reality).
