Its not coal or iron. its copper and other metals they want to mine UPSTREAM of Lake of the Woods. if you dont know what Lake of the Woods is google it. That was a very one sided article.

It likely wouldnt have happened, Biden or no Biden. There is a huge amount of money from tourism and many jobs because of LOTWoods. Thats besides the pristine part of it. Im glad it isnt happening. Maybe in the future if something else ruins that area first they will mine it.

See, that's the problem with the media, left or right. I want Paul Harvey back. Objectivity. Both sides. I was hoping Warm would have more info being closer.

Im an avid canoe person so it is a little hard for me to be objective on this one ;) Ive been in that general area but not canoeing. One of my classmates spent 6 weeks solo canoeing those lakes back before cell phones. Had to be a blast. More fish than you could ever catch. To the point of getting sick of fishing.

The mining lease had expired if I remember right and they wouldnt renew it.

Northern MN is all about lakes, fishing, camping, hunting, logging. Plus of course jobs for the locals which are often tourist related except in bigger towns. Mining in the NE part of the state. There arent natural lakes in my area as glaciers mostly missed it. Im right on the edge of it. But up there its lake after lake as far as you want to drive. Real pretty. If it wasnt so cold I'd live up there. Plus the skeeters are terrible if your not in the sun.

Risking that pristine property so someone can get rich supplying electric cars and solar panels with materials isnt worth the risk, my opinion. Green energy pushers wont tell you about the risks. Not everything is green about it. Maybe in the future something will change to allow it.

I'm all for nature and keeping it natural. The article didn't reflect any of that.

Always been a dream of mine to fish there.

Used to watch the Lindner boys and Babe fish it when I was a kid.

Looks like BS to me and they are trying to be like California. They can kiss my gas powered Stihl chainsaw! Hope it doesnt pass. I cant see them having public support for it but that doesnt mean they wont pass it.

For many years we had a split state congress with neither party having control of both houses and the Governor. That went quite well as they cant pass many laws then. Now they are all 3 Dem controlled so they are passing the normal dem stuff. I dont think they will pass any gun bills but who knows. We're probably going to have legal pot too.

The climate law they mention is passed. All green power in the near future. We can actually probably pull that off but I know my bill will go up a lot. We are already over 25% green power state wide. Panels and windmills are going up everywhere. Looks like I'll be off grid in the future cuz Im not dealing with those big electric bills I see mentioned here. Im stubborn enough to do it too. ;)

I'll never say everything. Right now all the green stuff they are going overboard with. Supply and demand would take care of the whole green thing, my opinion. Make it more affordable and or attractive and people will buy into it. Forcing it or anything down peoples throats just causes anger and resentment to the other side. And it just adds to partisanship.

My state likely would be at 50% green in 10 years even without that climate bill. And no reason for anyone to get mad when it happens on its own. That would be a better way, again my opinion. We have the Twin Cities in my state controlling the whole state, not unlike other states ran the same way. Im sure if the Repubs had full control here they would do things I dislike also. I dont follow party lines. There are good and bad in both. Mostly bad anymore it seems like, lol

Yeah, you're right. The problem is they make it so easy to dislike them. But you are.correct, both sides are idiots. If there was.a.way to mandate equal sides maybe more sensible things would come from it. Your state is no.different than mine. Last election 90%of counties were red.on the map and yet we got a blue president and governor.
