The guy was fascinating. And good judge of character.
He was an Opiate addict too.

I bet most people don't think addicts are fascinating and good judges of character. Maybe that is because they stereotype addicts.

You are quite the Debbie downer ain't cha? Well bless your heart, but I think ol Ben was a helluva guy. Edison and Van Gogh were addicts as well and yet we have all benefitted from them as well. And they are still talked about today. Do you think anyone will be talking about you in a couple hundred years?

He was also an adulterer.

But besides all that he is best known for being a brilliant printer, writer, inventor, Postmaster, and statesman.

Ever read any of his Poor Richard's Almanac ?

He helped write the Declaration of Independance - one of the greatest documents ever in history.

Without him as our Minister to France we likely would not have had France's help during the revolutionary war. And he helped write the Treaty of Paris that ended the war.

Drugged or in the wrong bed, he was still an amazing man that contributed greatly to our country.

Okay.
I have no issue with Ben Franklin. I think he was a wise man. I have no issue with addicts. Most people do. I think that if an addict can support their addiction, you would probably never even know they were an addict. An addict is himself when he is on his drug.

I have been thru nursing school and sat next to a mostly obese room of classmates. When we were studying addiction, most of them had no sympathy, empathy or understanding of the addicted. They saw no hypocrisy in condemning a drug addict or alcoholic while denying their food addictions.

So just remember we can glorify a drug addict when we like them.

Oh yes I remember something I said in nursing school was that people think of the 25 year old drug addict as a terrible loser person but think their grandma popping 2 Percocet every 4 hours as a sweet old lady.

If one drug addict is admirable and good, it is not the drugs that make a person less than admirable.

Some people are functional alcoholics. You would never know they are drunk but they are drunk all the time. Who am I to judge?

Not judging, huh ? You brought up addictions in a discussion that had nothing to do with that. :baby:

By the way, if you were a nurse, you'd know there is a huge difference between most addicts and that "sweet old lady" that is very likely trying to get through the day with chronic pain simply to allow her to live independently with dignity. I know many examples of both sides of that coin. And the majority of the medical community has very little sympathy for both.

Exactly if you like the person, they are a sweet person that requires pain medication. If you don't like them, they are an addict.

No matter how you dice it they are both addicts.

If Putin dies today the war will not end.

If Zelenesky died today the war would be over.

Just my opinion.

If Putin died today, the world would be a better place. Pretty sure that's a fact.

I can't say that is true. I don't know.
After watching that video of the NK woman I think there are many places to live way worse than Russia. My guess is that citizens of Russia are happy with their Country and Putin.

Watch the NK woman video then watch the Tucker Carlson Video where he went into the Moscow Subway. People walking the streets in Moscow seem to live a pretty normal life. Walking around with their cell phones and ear buds....

My guess is Russia would not be what it is today if Putin had not gotten them there. Probably a lot of people alive remember how bad it was in Russia and thank Putin for the way it is now.

I don't know pure speculation on my part. Since this is pure speculation and I admit I don't know, I do not understand the hatred that will come from me stating an opinion based on objective data. I did not hate on you. I simply stated that I don't know and why it is possible that Russian's might like Putin and there are much worse places to live.

No reason for personal attacks.
