Get them at a real medical clinic or dont bother at all, unless you do what Nut said. Lots of overpriced quack places around, the ones you see on tv. Sorry if that offends anyone who got them at those places but they are like body crackers, lots of bad ones.

they do not make analog ones anymore so if digital noise bothers you, your screwed. i fall into that boat. They arent for everyone. What they are good for is listening to the radio, watching tv, walks thru the woods, and one on one conversations. Not real good for crowds.

The stupid things get adjusted using computers now. Kind of a money pit. you can buy used ones on ebay from dead people that are analog and cheaper if you want to go that route, just for amplification.

Im sure others will have better things to say about them than me, lol

Hearing loss in golden years is a gift from God! Accept it as such.

It is possible you have accumulated wax that if removed would improve hearing.

When your hearing is impaired with missing certain frequencies it is unwise to amplify all/every frequencies including the ones that are loud enough already.
A quality hearing aid will first change the frequencies of trouble frequencies to a heard frequency and only amplify the "now" heard frequencies equally. But then if you want a bargain none of this applies to you...

I agree with C--thought I was losin hearing in my lft. ear--went to the clinic & they got this contraption & water pressured a big chunk of wax out--rgt. ear, not so much--so much for yrs of using q-tips pushin all sorts of stuff inward. Just an old farmers thought!! :o :)

My wife insisted that I get my hearing checked after me telling her on many occasions I couldn’t hear her (usually when there is background noise). I finally caved in and had my hearing checked this fall. Sure enough, I have noticeable hearing loss at certain frequencies. It is kind of disappointing because I have been very good about wearing heating protection for the last 15 years or so.

Thats the thing Rob. If people are telling you or anyone they have a problem they probably do. Most deny it or dont believe it. If you or anyone is telling people to speak up or are told the tv is too loud thats a pretty good indicator.
