Looks like we could be in for a real Whopper Friday afternoon into Christmas Eve here around the Southern Tier of western NY. From 40s plummeting into the negatives with high winds.

Preparation wise, I'm gonna get gas for the Genny and also make sure all the windows are locked tight. I'd like to fire up the 503 insert also, just to help out. I'll get a few buckets of nut size lined up on the front porch.

Unfortunately I'll be out in the bread truck Saturday. Time to dig out the thermal socks and long underwear lol.

What's the predictions for your neck of the woods? What will you do to prepare?

We are supposed to get a 1/2” of rain with 50 mph wind gusts, then the deep freeze.

I am going to get generator gas also.

Rain/sleet tomorrow morning changing to all rain in the afternoon. Friday the temps drop fast. Changing back to small amount of snow before pulling away. Real cold Sat, Sun., Mon. Not going anywhere so we will just hunker down for a few days. Coal stove doesn't need electricity to burn. Plenty of ashes for the driveway.

Its hitting here today into Saturday but is heading your way. Its more the wind here that will make it bad although the temps and windchills might scare some girly men, lol pic from the weather.gov website. I am burning some of my small supply of coal the next 7 days at low temp to save on some wood and work.

BAH HUMBUG!

My local station was out of regular gas at lunchtime, they said it has been crazy. They had non ethanol premium though, so at least I came home with what I went for.

This storm was predicted about a week ago here. Everyone waits til the last couple days to prepare. I did a Walmart pickup on Sunday and even then it took me 45 minutes to be loaded and gone instead of 10, the usual time. This one happens on Christmas weekend to compound the problem. Imagine what the airports will be like? Theres football Saturday so I'll just stay home.

Yes, and that stuff didn't have the state taxes suspended either.

Winter storms fear me. Good weather by me. Slightly warm in fact.

Yet that doesn't stop the weather talking heads from nonstop talking about the severe storm coming.

How can it be that cheap up there. I stopped and got gas on way home. $5.14 for non-eth premium here.
