My mother would use the cast as an excuse for why she could go back to doing what she was doing when she got hurt. More protection. Please don't do that.

I’m really surprised that they put you in a cast after a surgery because there’s no way to see the wound opening. Interesting.
My uncle had a little total right ankle replacement a year ago and 6 months after that had both knees replaced at once. No casts on any of them and his ankle has all sorts of plates and screws. Looks like a metal shop inside his ankle.

In two weeks or so they will cut an opening to check the wound and remove the stiches. Ask me how I know. I have pictures.
