We've had multiple occurrences of this happen up here on I-90. A Lake Effect Snowburst closes in,and it all goes to Hell in a Heartbeat!!

Should have seen Pottsville when all that traffic was detoured through downtown. Had I been working this could have been a problem but it is nice to be off yesterday and today. BTW 81 north is still closed. Lots of junk to remove.

The truck with my load of coal from Lehigh said they had to detour off I-81, this must be the reason.

I've been in that on I-90 west of Rochester, driving a U-Haul and pulling a car trailer taking a customer to pick up a car in Lockport NY.

In and out of bands of lake affect snow for a few hours. One minute nice and sunny with blue sky and a wall of white up ahead. Then into that wall of snow and we couldn't see more than a truck length in any direction. Lights on, stayed in the right lane, dropped to 15 mph ,...and did a lot of praying. :o Then, about 15-20 minutes of that and pop out into blinding sun shine again with another wall of white up a mile or so ahead.

Worse visibility than any fog I've ever been in,... on land or water !!!! And the most nerve racking few hours I ever spent on the road.

I think this was compounded by fog, Saturday morning when I went to work it was bad.
