I don't like posting sad news but this is absolutely horrifying. I worked with Mark for 10 years before he went on to be a salesman for Frito Lay. I would see Mark on occasion since we had a few of the same stores on our routes. We would swap bread for chips and we always had time for each other to talk about family and things going on. He was full of life and looking forward to retirement. This hard working couple has 2 kids they were putting thru college. I've been sick just thinking about what his family is going thru.
I know we talk about CO alarms and their life saving importance till we're sick of hearing it, and this is why..
Carbon Monoxide poisoning hasn't yet been determined by an investigation as of yet, I heard it thru a reliable source. But I can't imagine what else it could be.

Im sorry Lightning... your trading bread for chips made me smile. I remember the drivers trading sweets back and forth in my short Metz career. Its never a bad thing to post these stories as reminders.

It's sad that a less than $100 dollar item could have prevented that.

Thank you fellas.. I heard from another reliable source in the medical field that confirmed it was carbon monoxide poisoning. Although I don't understand why it hasn't been reported by the media yet. It's been a full week since it happened..

I heard from another reliable source that it was in fact carbon monoxide poisoning. Then I talked to another vendor today who knows somebody close to the family. He told me that Mark had been tinkering with his boiler beforehand. I don't have any other details and can't find anything on the net about it. But wow... such a tragedy that could have been prevented with a $20 CO alarm. Unreal...hotblast1357 wrote: ↑Wed. When one of my friends got back from Desert Storm he bought a house in the spring. i went with him to Menards to buy some stuff for his house and I put a smoke alarm (not a CO) into his shopping cart and he left it there. That fall he started his propane furnace and got tired and started to fall asleep and the smoke detector went off... unsure what made it do that, but it saved his life. There was a bird nest in his chimney. Im glad I went shopping with him that day.
Sorry again about your friend. We can never be reminded too often about alarms and detectors.
