As it pertains to coal mining and the old ways
...Time has made a change in me...
(Click on "Watch on YouTube" in the black box below to see video on YouTube.)
At 16 minutes of the video...look closely at the rock...and see if you can see the man in the stone staring back at you.
Reminded me of that old gospel song...
Video taken in West Virginia and the song was written by a West Virginian native in the early 1900's and first recorded in the early 1920's. At the time I was reminded of the old song I didn't even realize it was written by a West Virginian, so I thought that information would be interesting for some to read as well.

As I first watched the video looking at the pictures and seeing the size of some of the sycamore trees in and around that small coal camp and coke ovens it looked as if it had been abandoned for nearly 100 years or more. That's a mighty long time, but in the span of our life times it really isn't all that long as we age and realize how short time is.
As I read some of the comments below the link and read that the camp was abandoned, I believe it said in 1961, I was sort of shocked to see how fast time had made a change in that old place. Made me realize how fast things really change over a single lifetime. You can hardly tell there were any coke ovens there as they are hidden by the trees and moss that has nearly all but camouflaged the brick and stone work. Just imagine how busy of a place that used to be.

As I said earlier, "(Click on "Watch on YouTube" to see video)".
In other words, scroll up to my first post, place your cursor on the underlined words, "Watch on Youtube" and click on it, and it will take you to the video. I did the same thing in your post and it took me straight to the video on youtube.

For those having trouble...do a YouTube search for this...just copy and paste it... "Abandoned Stone Cliff, West Virginia Coal Town".

Hoytmans link to that video worked, at least for me. The other one was the problem. I made a bad attempt to fix it so it would work without all the clicking around.Richard S. wrote: ↑Wed.
