I'm sticking to the animal documentaries for now. I'd rather dream about being killed by a wild animal than watch any local, state, national or world news program.

Its harder if you dont have a pay tv subscription. AM radio is nice if you can get a few channels. I learn more from an Iowan farm channel than I ever learn from tv and they play polka every morning too... oom pa pa! Radio mostly just tells the news without as much drama.

On farm shows, yes its ag related, but that covers fuel and oil costs because of ethanol, covers grocery and food prices as thats what farmers grow, covers tariffs, import & export restrictions, inflation, land and home values, stock market, foreign countries economies as they relate to buying food. Grocery shopping patterns as it relates to farming.
Competition from various countries, inflation, etc.
They are generally right leaning but if they dont like something the right is doing they vocalize loudly on it. Great interviews with Senators from farm states, both parties but mostly repub. Trump has even done live interviews. I think they talked to every Prez candidate from both parties at some point. Even 3rd party. 2 hrs a day, once in the morning at 10am my time and then again at 2PM.
This station can be listened to live if your ever bored and has the show I listen too but not the polka. Its one of the last older country music AM stations left that I can pick up in daytime. From Oelwein IA. Link near top right to listen.

edit, start times are 10:06AM and 2:06PM central times, mon-fri

I used to watch the news almost exclusively. Now that it's just non stop propaganda I avoid it.

I'm finding a new relevance for Mr. Rodger's Neighborhood! That Trolley makes more sense than most supposed news programs!

I don't watch the TV news anymore, they are all entertainment channels pushing an agenda to appeal to specific political ideologies. That comment applies to every single one of them. Most TV I watch on my laptop, I'll have another browser window open with aggregated news that I'll view while commercials are playing. I'll click on anything that peaks my interest, if it's video only I just close it. The text news isn't much better but it is slightly better than TV advertisements.
