Today my wife and step daughter found an injured owl alongside our road. After many phone calls they were able to contact a wildlife rescue agency to help. It's located roughly 60 miles north of where we live. So they boxed up the poor bird and met the agent halfway. They said they would keep us informed about the owl's progress and when he is healthy she'll bring him back and we can witness his release back into the wild. I'm so proud of them for all they did to help this beautiful owl that I wanted to share it with all my coal friends.... and hopefully there will come a happy ending to this story.

So when our grandson came home from School today we showed him pics of the owl. He says, oh... that's the owl that flew into the side of the bus this morning... :what:

You had better luck getting someone to help than I ever did with wounded critters unless there was someone to give a fine too.

His lack of fight when handled is not a good sign but we will hope for the best. Very good of you to try.

Update..... my wife posted this on FaceBook. I forgot to mention that his mate has been hanging around our house. My daughter caught a picture of her.

Our wonderful lady at the owl sanctuary sent me a photo of our injured feathered friend and this is what she had to say this morning.... keep those prayers coming! I really feel like he’s going to be ok ...

The little critter made it this long, thats a very good sign with organ stuff. Have they said what breed of owl it is? Obviously a small one.

It's one of these guys right here.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barred_owl
In normal circumstances, barred owls tend to pair bond for life.[6] Courting pairs are usually newly mature birds but also possibly widowed owls or those re-establishing existing pair bonds after the winter.[6][56]

Nice job on the Owl...
We are fortunate here to have several wildlife rehab centers...
Swimmers, fliers and walkers!!!
While we were in Bali there was a restaurant that had a pet Owl...
Really big one...
Thought it was just a stuffed Owl...
But then it flew across the room!!!
Very impressed on how silent the flight was...

Interestingly enough, I read that their feathers are specifically designed to produce silent flight so that they can dive onto prey without warning.
