I suppose you would have been just fine with manifest destiny. What if China merely desires its own manifest destiny?

You would be supposing wrong.

Can I suppose that you think China has the right to start some level of conflict with just about every one of their neighbors ? If so,... try asking the Tibetans what they think of China's "Manifest Destiny".

And,.... do you still think it's just the USA rattling sabers ?

If America suddenly became isolationist, which has happened before, would China be a force for peace in Asia or use its force against its neighbors as Japan did in the 1930's?

We are the only nation standing between China and its domination of Asia. Japan and our other allies would be overwhelmed while Europe looks inward.

First off, China is nothing like what Japan faced in 1930. Things are a quite a bit different now.

Have you taken a look at how well armed China's neighbors have become ?

Speaking of Japan,... they are now not far behind China in World ranking of military power.

And who do you think would win between Russia and China ?

Add to that, India has become one of the World's most powerful militaries, also ..... and with a population almost as large as China's and growing faster than China's.

The Chinese are out numbered and out gunned by the countries surrounding them. And they don't have enough Navy to defend their badly needed import supplies of oil if they start a shooting war with us, and/or, our allies in the region.

That's why they haven't,... and won't go to war. Especially when they can get what they want by far less costly means.

China holds quite the sum of US debt...
Rather than roll over that debt...
What if they want to cash out...
Many more ways than Bullets and nukes to wage war...

In fact, Nixon visited China in order to pivot them away from Russia and to gain more leverage over relations with the Soviet Union.
