A lot of you know I play in a rock band so it follows suit that when I see someone performing that leaves a grand impression on me I like to share about it. You guys have probably seen the videos of extraordinary players on social media. This woman here for example playing cover drums to a song by Disturbed, "Down with the Sickness." The Godmother of Drums.

Being a bass player I really appreciate playing with a solid drummer, I would have absolutely no qualms about jammin with this fine lady!!

She keeps a straight face up till about midway thru when she gets that "drum face" on, you can tell she's feelin it lol, I love this haha

She really makes it look easy.

There are so many good musicians that you never have heard of that are out there. Most the shows I go to anymore are Americana as Im more of a lyrics lover than anything else (Kristofferson is my lyrics King) but some of them are great pickers and never get credit for it. So many musicians sell their soul to the industry to try to get rich, doing exactly what they are told to do, especially in modern country and pop music. Then there are the ones that just want to do their own thing and those are the ones that get my respect. I have a feeling this lady is one of those.

Long ago I was a drummer, and I like the Godmother ok, but if you want to talk about extraordinary, pioneering female drummers I think Karen Carpenter (yes, that Karen Carpenter) is closer to or at the top of the list. There are some YouTube videos that show her virtuosity, energy and precision as a drummer early in her career, when female drummers were virtually nonexistent. Even though she is best known as a singer, and has been dead for over 35 years, she still shows up on lists of all-time best drummers.
