Prayers for David A

Anyone who knows or ever heard of David A Lucas, a retired coal miner from Schuylkill county and holds an annual coal miners picnic, he was involved in a serious car accident Friday and lost his wife. He was flown to the hospital and his condition is unknown.

I always enjoy looking at his front lawn with all the home-made miners memorials as we pass thru town with coal.

Last I heard he is busted up a bit but not life threatening. This is third hand info for what it is worth.

Yes David A has a lot of charisma, well known in the community and was known to work hard and party just as hard. I think old age has tempered that quite a bit. He has a heart of gold and he will receive a lot of support from the community.

Sadly David A passed away Saturday. I should have updated sooner that his condition was worse than thought as I learned more information. He was busted up pretty good.

I never met the Man,but Jack did. That's good enough for me. Some exits aren't very easy,and it now sounds like the Legacy Man paid dearly for his. At the very least,he "Jumped Clean"!

Condolences to his Family at a minimum,and a Lifetime of Memories to Carry Forward for the Rest of Us. Do something about this. Share those Memories with this Board. The Old Miner will Live Forever... Tell his story to those that have never heard it.... Amen!

Most certainly praying for the family and friends. Although I never had the chance to meet him it seems as though he was a friend to anyone he met and everyone who knew him, loved him.

I remember how awful it was when the feds began shutting down all of those little independent mines, we were still hauling coal out of Pine Creek breaker at the time. I came in one morning and everyone there was splitting their pants seat laughing about yesterday’s events. I finally asked someone what on earth was so funny?

Turns out, there was a meeting the day before of all the independent miners, PA dignitaries, lawmakers, and their lobbyists. This was all in regards to the federal shutdowns of those small mom and pop mines. As the meeting went on they opened up for the miners to give individual comments at the microphone. I will not share the words he said but he brought dead silence upon that room when he was done and left everyone in a white shirt and tie feeling like an absolute fool.

I think he was an honest, assertive man who cared greatly for his fellow miners and those in his community. I will miss him waving at us on the porch as we rolled through town, I think he just enjoyed seeing another load of PA anthracite heading West.

this is saddening, that whole family is good people. David's son used to inspect my cars when i lived in newtown.
