The flag is not backwards. It's orientation is correct.

If anything, it's the flag. I flipped it in a few directions and finally ended up with this.

The flag is right...stars always point forward. The whole photo was reversed?

Did you aim the camera at your car's review mirror?

OK, I have just spent an hour looking at photos of all the space shuttles. I thought at first this wasn't really Atlantis, that you had photo-shopped in the name, because I found photos where the round NASA emblem was not there. But in other Atlantis photo it was there. Fresh paint job, I guess.

So I give up. Only thing wrong I can see is, it is levitated in mid-air with nothing holding it up.

Image is "flipped".

Look closely and you'll see that all the lettering is reversed. Even as Tommy pointed out, the NASA logo. And if you enlarge the photo, the "Lackmann" logo is also reversed on the side of the white van in the parking lot - just below the wing.

The flag would be correct even if the image is flipped. Here's a picture showing two shuttles, nose to nose. You can see that on both sides the flag star field is always toward the nose of the craft- as it would be seen if flying on a ship.
